There's nothing wrong with the idea of making New Year's resolutions. The problem is, for the most part, they just don't work. If you want to accomplish something, make it a goal and put it in writing. Your goals need to be clearly definable and attainable. They should be extremely specific. For example, instead of writing "I want to lose weight", spell it out. How do you plan to achieve it?
Try this: "I will lose 30 pounds by March 1, 2009. I will attain my goal by exercising a minimum of thirty minutes daily. I will follow a healthy diet and avoid junk food and empty calories". This is just an example. If you want to make more money, find a soul mate, whatever, figure out how you're going to get there and put it in writing.
I need to thank my dear friend Jo-Anne Smith for her recommendation of Life's Missing Instruction Manual: The Guidebook You Should Have Been Given At Birth by Joe Vitale. Do yourself a favor and buy it and read it. Happy New Year!
