I took some clients out to see homes yesterday. They were a lovely couple, excited about purchasing a home for their family. They saw a home near the first one we had previewed and asked if we could see it. I called the office and found out it was vacant. When I opened the door, I was in shock.
It literally looked liked this family had left in the middle of the night, grabbing what they could before leaving the the life they once had behind. There were toys strewn about the floor. There were piles of trash everywhere. There were pizza boxes and more trash in the kitchen,
In one of the bedrooms were several stuffed animals and unopened toys. I was totally unprepared for what I saw. It broke my heart.

A couple of things struck me. Even though this was a bank owned listing, why didn't the agent spend half a day making the home look presentable? Secondly, what had become of this family? These images will stay with me for a long time to come.
When we show foreclosed homes, they have often been "sanitized". This was such a clear example of a family's life that had been turned upside down.
